Holy Spirit Help Me!!! – Recording
Last week the Holy Spirit helped us to see that God’s normal is super-natural – That all
of us need God’s super – to be attached to our normal so that as a Spirit-filled church
we can experience the super natural as normal.
When the community of Conneaut hears testimonies that the super natural presence
of God is normal in this house they will come because they expect to experience
something other than just normal.
Roy – you became a new creation last week – you heard me say that you were saved
on purpose for a purpose – the same is true for all of us meaning all of us have a
destiny.
We will need the Holy Spirit to reach the destiny the Lord has planned for you – that is
true for the rest of us as well. Be the first to come to the altar for the baptism in the
Holy Spirit. You do want all the Lord has planned for you – right? John the Baptist
says of Jesus in
Mathew 3:11 (Jesus) will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
That too – is the case for each of here – That Jesus desires to baptize us in the Holy
Spirit Why? Because Jesus knows there is no way that our destiny can be fulfilled
apart from the help that only the Holy Spirit can give.
Lets look at the notion that God indeed has a destiny for each of us by examining few
scriptures.
The bible says Jeremiah 1:5 I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
Before you were born, I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
* I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to
harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Ps 57:2 God will fulfill His purpose for me.
Eph 1:11-13 In Him we were also chosen …in order that we, who were the first to
hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory.
That verse says that no matter what destiny the Lord has planned for us – it will be
designed to bring Him praise and glory!
Plans – Purpose – Destiny – WOW – that is profound and so encouraging. It goes a
long way in answering questions like – what am I going to do with my life – does my life
really matter?

People without Jesus and the Holy Spirit often live in a measure of serious despair –
just imagine them getting saved – relying on the help of the Holy Spirit – suddenly their
despair is exchanged for destiny!
Instead of feeling a sense of worthlessness – now they come to know that God
considers them His treasured possession – instead of emptiness they are experiencing
fullness – instead of feeling powerless they now feel powerful actually believing that
with God all things are possible!
But listen – that’s the good news we are commissioned to share with those who are not
here! Yes – those in our community – those in the places where you work – your
classmates – your neighbors – the apartment complex across the road – people need
to be saved –
Their lives matter – in fact They matter so much to God – He sent His Son Jesus to die
in their place. The great question facing each of us and the church as a whole is – *
How much do they matter to us?
Do they matter enough for us to bake a pie – or cookies and walk across the street?
Do they matter enough for us to invite them into our home – or share any other act of
kindness?
Missionary after missionary have shared with me stories of how people – men –
women – teens – even children saying in so many words – I can hardly believe God
would send you ½ around the world to share Jesus with us and I find it equally as
difficult to believe that you would go!
God has plans to use us to bring Him glory by sharing the gospel with people – not just
in Africa – Mongolia or others far away people but people who live next door!
Ya – you and you and you and I – we are all called to be ambassadors for Christ.
Nobody wants to just go through the religious motions. That is so boring! It will make
you a hypocrite in just minutes, it will wear you out – serving the Lord without the Holy
Spirit becomes a duty or even worse – a drudgery.
Trying to be Christian apart from the supernatural help of the Holy Spirit will exhaust us
– it will leave us helpless in an hour of need, hopeless in a moment of crisis, fearful in a
moment of testing, without passion in our worship and selfish in the moment when the
opportunity to serve others presents itself.
Trying to live as a Christ in this world without the super natural presence of the Holy
Spirit will leave you empty, cold and dry – we are nothing more than a glorified heathen
– you will have no excitement or joy in being a Christian. No joy = no strength and
without strength we are vulnerable to defeat

1 Peter 5:8-9 says Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls
around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and
be strong in your faith.
The enemies plans to destroy you began the moment you were conceived. And for 60
million children he was successful in their destruction before they were even born!
Satan wants to destroy us – to defeat us at every turn – We are in a battle everyday –
we are in a battle we cannot win without the Holy Spirit – there is no “standing firm
against him!” We are no match against demonic activity without the Holy Spirit and
demons are no match against us with the Holy Spirit!!!
Nehemiah 8:10 Joy of the Lord is your strength –
Ps 40:16 May all who search for you be filled with joy and gladness in you. May
those who love your salvation repeatedly shout, “The Lord is great!” Shout it!
Are we too self-conscious to shout?
See video (you-tube – kids public meltdown – Start at 1;15 seconds to 1:55
seconds)
That kid had not 1 ounce of self-consciousness – he did not care a wit what others
thought! Why – because his whole world surrounded him – it is all about him. The
crazy thing is – it is the opposite for us in the church – we are so self-conscious
because it is about us – what will people think?
What would happen to this church if each of us were
