I ask the Holy Spirit to help lead my study – to guide me toward the finish line of sharing insights and revelation that can change our lives and possibly more importantly change the lives of those around us.
So many of our neighbors – friends and acquaintances are still lost – others are struggling with marriages – kids – finances – and faith. Each are in need of God’s intervention.
We will be reading an extended portion of scripture this morning –– lets turn to Isaiah 6:1-8
After we read the entire chapter – we hope to break down a few truths that I believe the Holy Spirit intends for us – here at the family of Conneaut 1st as we embark of a truly exciting, challenging and supernatural journey. lets pray
Isaiah 6
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying.
And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”
Then one of the seraphs flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Isaiah 6:1
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple.
Uzziah had reigned for fifty-two years, during the greater part of which he and his people had been incredibly prosperous. 52 years – many if not most of the population had never known anyone else as their king – their leader – there president so to speak. Imagine President Trump in office 52 years !!!!!!!!
He was King before Isaiah was born – near the end of his life – Isaiah became recognized as a legitimate prophet – one who was able and willing to present the word of God and the heart of God to any who would inquire.
But something happened – Same-o same 0o in his religious world was about to be forever transformed. Isaiah had an encounter with the living God.
In the year that King Uzziah died’ is a great deal more than a date for chronological purposes. It tells us not only the when, but the why, of the vision.
The earthly king was laid in the grave; but the prophet saw that the true King of Israel was neither the dead Uzziah nor his successor – his 25 year old son -Jotham, but the Lord of hosts
Listen it could very well have been that the prophet Isaiah had grown somewhat complacent in regard to placing his trust in the Lord – or even acknowledging the Lord for all the prosperity Israel had been enjoying.
Maybe he had grown accustom to same o same o after 52 years of the same o king. Now suddenly that which was normal – that which was dependable was gone – King Uzziah had been given credit for the prosperity Israel had come to enjoy when in fact it was the hand of God
Often we give ourselves credit – or good fortune – as the reason for our success – well I saved – I got a degree – I never gave up – I knew the right people – wait a minute – upon the death of Uzziah – the normal rug was suddenly gone – in a time of crisis – Isaiah suddenly had an encounter with the Lord
Isn’t it often the case – in the midst of crisis we seek the Lord like we haven’t in a long time – our prayer lives suddenly become a critical part of our spiritual experience. When our kids get sick we pray longer – more passionately – we recall more scriptures and worship with more focus
My wife Pam and I had attended a mainline church – we grew up Lutheran and followed that path somewhat – One day a man said – if you are in a dead church – “GET OUT OF IT!” That kick started our quest for what was not Same-o dead religion.
Several months later we were in a Sunday evening service – The 75 year old former boot-leger pastor spoke of the rapture – suddenly – faced with the reality that there actually was an eternal place of torment called Hell and an eternal place of bliss and blessing called heaven – we had an encounter with the Living God ! Same-o would never be same-o again.
Like Isaiah we really needed a vision from God – a visitation from the Lord that will change the course of same-o normal – natural to the super natural.
This church is in somewhat of a similar circumstance. Like Isaiah we really need a vision from God – a visitation from the Lord that will change the course of our same-o normal and our natural to His super natural.
How many of us would say God we need a supernatural – visitation – please Lord let this church move from being a place of normal and natural to a place where the super natural is normal!
Can you just imagine Isaiah praying – Oh God now What? -Imagine God says hey – look up – Isaiah looks up and Suddenly Isaiah sees the Lord! It was like God saying –
Wow – The vision revealed the heavenly hosts that operate in the presence of God – their trice holy declaration of Holy – Holy – Holy is the Lord God Almighty is still resonating in the worship of Gods family we sing holy – holy – holy –
Holy God the Father – Holy God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Look at Isaiah’s response – Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
According to Exodus 33:20 man cannot see God without dying. Moses had cried out “Show Me your face oh Lord? He must die, because the holiness of God is to the sinner a consuming fire . God hides Moses in the cleft of a rock and passes by him declaring his goodness. Like Moses – God spares Isaiah on purpose for a purpose – I believe God has spared each of us on purpose for a purpose.

The unholiness of Isaiah was doubled, in consequence due to the closeness of the natural connection to the nation. It wasn’t just the sense of his own unholiness – his own unclean lips but the unclean lips of a people who were supposedly God’s people. He found himself transported into the midst of choirs of beings who were praising the Lord with pure lips
Listen – America has historically been considered a Christian nation – we are now in a post Christian era – and we have become a people with unclean lips –

In America – we applaud the killing of Babies – we embrace perversion in sexuality – and the vulgar rhetoric from the lips of people – teachers – workers —– professionals and worst of all entertainers and politicians – is a cesspool of uncleanness
What is a church to do is a world of such darkness? The answer is nt to do as Israel did – they became part of the darkness – The church is supposed to be God’s light in the midst of darkness.
Yes we are admonished to walk in the Light – live as children of light – to abide in the word which is a lamp unto our feet and a light to our path – but the only way those admonitions to be light are going to happen is to receive a super natural visitation from God a – life changing encounter with God –
we need a vision from God Himself – like Isaiah! The super of God combined with the natural of Isaiah and from that moment on everything changed.
Verse 8 says that Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then said I, “Here am I; send me.”
Wow the exuberant willingness of the prophet to whole heartedly follow God seemed to be motivated by the shear joy that he was not dead – that his guilt was taken away – Isaiah knows he should be dead – he deserves to be dead but he isn’t!
What an exchange – Isaiah feels the trembling – sees the vision of God and hears His voice! Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?
“Here am I; send me.” Do you believe that exchange has been lost in the church? Has it been lost in my life?
The joy of our salvation must be renewed in our spirit if we are to ever going to willingly – excitedly offer ourselves to the Lord –
Here I Am Send me – will only take place upon the revelation that God has spared us from death and forgiven us and taken our guilt away!
the joy, with which Isaiah offered himself as the messenger of God, was the direct consequence of the forgiveness of sins,
His unclean lips cauterized by the fire from the coal were made pure – His hard heart had been replaced by a new heart –
His dependence upon the king had been transferred to the Lord – his same- o dead traditional worship experience had now come alive – no more normal and natural but now supernatural – How many would acknowledge that We need God to put His super in our natural!
The prophet was the organ of the word of God, and the word of God was the expression of the will of God, and the will of God is a divine act that has not yet become historical.
Our Alter call is all about a supernatural visitation
Foe those who have never had one
Secondly for those of us who have – we need a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to blow – – for the lights to come on – When was the last time we were so moved by the sheer JOY that JESUS saved us – that we said
Here am I send me?
